This permanent "cosmetic" makeup procedure is very similar to traditional tattoos, in that the pigment is injected into the dermal layer with a tattoo needle.  Topical numbing creams are applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure.  This is done by an experienced aesthetician who is licensed in cosmetic tattooing.  These procedures are most commonly performed to resemble traditional cosmetics, such as eyeliner, brow definition, lip liner and lipstick.  Although it is referred to as “permanent makeup,” the results tend to fade some with time.  Touch-ups are sometimes needed to maintain the results.  The appearance immediately after the procedure is usually a little darker and more dramatic than the end result when healing has taken place in 3-7 days.
