Dos and Don’ts of Cleansing

Hello blog friends! I get a lot of questions from clients about the dos and don’ts of cleansing, when to exfoliate, how much, etc. I thought it would be useful to get back to basics with our

skin care. Over the next few entries, I’ll let you in on my tips and easy ways to get the most out of your at home routine. I encourage questions and comments too.

Let’s get started with washing your face. It may sound simple, but by adjusting a couple of steps, this routine can yield big results. First, take a few minutes for yourself away from all the other distractions. Make it a relaxing experience instead of a chore and you will be more likely to do it. If you feel like you are too tired at the end of the day to do anything besides use a facial wipe, try washing your face when you get home. I know wipes are handy dandy, but they really don’t get the job done.

First use lots of water and get your face really wet. Use the facial cleanser of your choice and using your fingertips, massage the cleanser all over for a minute. Now that you have cleansed, this is the perfect time to exfoliate. Try a moist cleansing brush or washcloth and go over the area for a second pass. Now rinse rinse rinse. Use lots of water and make sure to remove all traces of cleanser. Pat dry. Now you are ready for treatment and moisturizer.
